All
the Hand Crafted garments and items (Hand Embroidered Shawls,
Chainstitch Rugs, Silk Rugs & Papier Mache) that I sell are not mass produced, and are, quite often unique pieces. Hence, I do not have a product range as such, nor a catalogue. I sell what I am sent, and other than colour ranges, I am sent different pieces all the time.
Everything I am sent is assured to be of the highest
quality. There
are standard quality measures (eg, amount of knots per sq in of a Silk
Rug) however quality of craftmanship is never standard, and this is
something you can only truly appreciate at first hand. This is why I
want these pages to compliment my shows, not replace them. After
meeting me and seeing these items, you can trust my quality and
information, and buy with confidence.
Please
also understand my prices DO NOT reflect the quality. I have kept my
prices to an absolute minimum as I believe this is the right way to
business. I do not have shop premises, and I Import the goods myself -
hence I can keep my prices very low. This does not affect the level of
after-sales service you will receive nor the quality of the goods.
Although most of the items are unique in design, I stand by the claim that any item can be reproduced if requested. Therefore, if you have seen a design, either on this site or on the stall, please email me this photo and the size you require, and I will let you know if and when this item can be made available.
Plus
I guarantee that if you are dissatified with any product for any
reason, I will refund or replace within 7 working days without question.
I do take credit or debit card orders over the phone.
Product Background
Remaining true to their roots, the
Kashmiri’s have long been famous for their production of some of the world’s
best and most luxurious fabrics and, exquisite handicrafts. Originating in Persia, these crafts were brought to Kashmir from the ruling Moghul Empire over 400 years ago
(they’re the ones who built the Taj Mahal). Now these crafts are solely made in
Kashmir who have kept to traditional
techniques and designs, but have perfected the art. The craftsmen often work
from their home, as has always been the way, which somehow adds to the romance
and quality of the work created.
Everyone in the process is as important as
each other. Fair trade comes as standard, as each task requires a specific
ability & quality from a specific craftsman that has normally passed down
from generation to generation, with each craftsmen dependant on each other to
produce the highest quality work.
Nothing is made in factories by children!!!
There are some items produced on electric looms in a factory, such as the
Silk:Wool shawls, but these are still produced by quality craftsmen. The more
exclusive items are made in the craft workers homes – though different parts of
the productions are done by different people.
For a closer look at the different
products, please follow click the buttons on the left.
The items shown are a sample, and though
everything you see is possible to order, there are more products available that
I will be taking to the shows & parties.
And I will be adding more photos and colour
options in the coming weeks.
