Kashmir Valley creations is an importer, retailer and wholesaler in ethically traded rugs, wall hangings and cushion covers made by skilled craftspeople in the villages in Kashmir, India.


Each piece is an individual work of art that has been hand crafted using age-old techniques of dyeing and embroidery, resulting in a practical, hard wearing and stunningly artistic piece of soft furnishing.

 STYLISH & VERSATILE

 

With designs ranging from traditional/antique to modern floral to contemporary, including pieces based on famous works of modern art, there is a design to suit any style and taste. Plus almost all of our collection are our own exclusive in-house designs, so you wont find the majority of them anywhere else.

 

The sizes range from small rectangular, to large rectangular, runners & circular. these rugs and cushion covers are ideal for the hallway, lounge, dining room, bedroom, kids rooms, bathrooms…in fact, any room in the house. They add colour, style & warmth without any hassle. A great way to change or enhance a room easily, whatever your style.


Due to the impecable level of embroidery, and the sheer unique and beautiful qualities that only a handmade work of art can justify, pieces are often used as wall hangings, throws, bed covers and even seat covers. 



  



PRACTICAL

 

100% sheep wool, embroidered onto a cotton base using a strong stitching technique (chainstitch), with a heavy, durable cotton canvas backing; the result is a rug that can stand almost any amount of traffic.

 

Plus the cotton backing means the rugs are non-slip, making them ideal on a hard floor (wood, laminate, slate, tiled or even marble), whilst on a carpet they don't creep, move, walk or curl up at the sides. In fact, they are the most well behaved rugs in the world.

 

 

   

 

 

The end product is a rug that is as practical as it is beautiful. Each piece is an individual work of art, that is hard wearing, even with pets, and machine washable*!! And what's even better is the dye is colourfast both in the wash and in sunlight. For more details, please see below.

 

 

 

ETHICAL TRADE

 

Kashmir has a history of craft making and textiles, originating from the Moghul rules in the 16th century. The people who produce these rugs & cushions are skilled craftworkers who apply their trade at home as a cottage industry, usually in the mountain villages. There are several processes involved, from dyeing of the yarn, to embroidery, to cleaning, backing and finishing. The skills are often passed down from generation to generation.

 

 

Every person relies on each other to provide their experise at the highest quality. It is for this reason that every worker is fairly paid for their craft. 

 

 

NO CHILDREN have been used in any process.
